Thanks for stopping by. You made my heart happy.
Art makes me happy and I think it should make you happy too. I am a Minnesota artist with a BA in Visual Art from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. I went to Florida to escape the winters in lumberjack country for four years while soaking in the sun and sand. After college I moved to Minneapolis where continued painting while teaching preschool.
In 2009 I quit teaching and eventually moved into the Casket Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis to pursue art full time. In 2011 I had a baby, Elliott, and he became my constant studio companion. Now a toddler, he is my activities director. He encourages me with compliments like "Cute!" and "I yike it."
I paint with acrylics and watercolors on canvas and paper in sizes ranging from 2x2 inches to 6x6 feet. My work is whimsical and brightly colored like fluffy fat birds wearing glasses. Since the fall of 2011 the Artist Mercantile in St. Paul has been carrying a line of stuffed love guys I created. The name dancing fork was the title of an abstract painting in 2006. It made me so happy that I had to use it again, and again, hence the name of this site, my etsy shop, and the banner in my studio.
The Casket Arts is open the first Thursday of each month from 5-9pm. We also host spring and fall weekend art events - Art-A-Whirl in May and Cache in November. If you aren't in town you can shop for my art online here.
